A/C SERVICE

A/C SYSTEM REPAIR

Compressor compresses refrigerant before traveling to condenser. The Condenser cools the gaseous refrigerant and changes to liquid. Receiver/drier functions as a refrigerant filter – removing moisture & contaminants. As liquid refrigerant passes through the expansion valve it becomes partly vaporized & cools rapidly. The evaporator removes heat from the air inside the vehicle. Refrigerant continues vaporization, cool air is released through the vents.

ALTERNATOR

An electromechanical device that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current. You may have a hard time starting your vehicle when your alternator fails to charge your battery.

ALIGNMENT

$95 wheel alignment inspection and basic adjustment. Road test vehicle. Check all suspension and steering parts for wear. Check tire pressure and condition. Check riding height. BALL JOINT

Allows the suspension to pivot when steering & move up and down on rough roads.Recommend replacement as a set. Recommend wheel alignment with installation. “clunk” or “pop” when going over pumps or turning can indicate a problem.

BELTS

Drive belts may be individual or as one with a pulley system to drive the a/c compressor, alternator & power steering pump. When dry, cracked or squeaking we recommend replacement. Belts may become damaged if fluids leak on them.

BRAKE FLUID FLUSH

$90 Check brake fluid for moisture and contamination. Inspect all hydraulic line and hoses. Inspect calipers and wheel cylinders. Inspect master cylinder and cap. Flush entire brake system including master cylinder, calipers, wheel cylinders until clean. Includes new fluid.

BRAKE SERVICE

CLUTCH

A mechanical device that temporarily disconnects the engine from the manual transmission, which allows for a smooth transition from one gear to another.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSTICS

$85 Code retrieval and diagnostic investigation. A malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), commonly referred to as the “Check Engine Light”, indicates malfunction(s) of a computerized engine management system. When illuminated on vehicles (1996+) with OBD-II, the light has two stages: steady (indicating a minor fault) and flashing (indicating a severe fault).

DIAGNOSTICS

DYNO

A dynamo-meter or “dyno” for short, is a device for measuring force, moment of force (torque), or power. For example, the power produced by an engine, motor or other rotating prime mover can be calculated by simultaneously measuring torque and rotational speed (RPM). The Dyno is used during our SMOG inspections.

Smog Check

EMISSION SERVICE

Fuel injection cleaning, fuel mixture adjustment, adjust timing, check emission coming from tailpipe.

ENGINE REPAIR & REPLACEMENT

Complete engine removal and replacement. Option of swapping for a low mileage (under 60-80k) engine or a rebuilt engine.

FRONT & REAR DIFFERENTIAL

$95/each (most) drain fluid, check for metal shavings, check bearing, refill with recommend fluid

FUEL INJECTION SERVICE

$69 (most) Clean gum and soft carbon deposit from fuel delivery components and inside combustion chamber. Perform complete fuel pressure and volume test.

FUEL PUMP

Fuel pump draws the fuel from the fuel tank and sends it to the engine. Fuel filter should always be replaced with pump.

HARD START DIAGNOSTICS

If you are having trouble starting your vehicle it could be related to a charging system failure or fuel delivery failure.

HEAD GASKET

Failures are often due to overheating or age. Cylinder heads should be inspected and machined.

LEAK INSPECTION

May need to lift vehicle and clean previous leaks to locate exact leak. Rubber seals with age will crack and begin to leak.

OVERHEATING DIAGNOSTICS

$85 will credit toward repair. If the cooling system fails to keep the engine at the correct operating temperature, it can suffer significant damage.

POWER STEERING SYSTEM SERVICE

$49.95 (most) Inspect power steering pump, lines, gear box and or rack and pinion for wear. Inspect for leaks. Flush and fill with new fluid.

VEHICLE INSPECTION SERVICE

$85 Major Inspection of physical condition and functions of vehicle, including: tires, brakes, lights, fluids, filters, belts, hoses, battery, wipers, suspension, exhaust. A thorough report will be explained and printed. Repair estimate upon request.

RADIATOR FLUSH & FILL

$65 (most vehicles). Coolant flush and fill with factory recommend coolant. Most require green coolant. For GM vehicles, Dex-Cool (orange) may be required. Some newer makes and models require blue coolant.

RADIATOR REPLACEMENT

Warm coolant from the engine circulates through the radiator & reduces the temperature of the coolant before reentering the engine. Recommend replacement right away when leaking, clogged or damaged, before severe engine damage from overheating occurs.

Tire Pressure

SHOCK & STRUT

The integrity of shock absorbers is essential to maintaining tire contact with the road & providing passenger comfort. Both front or rear shocks are replaced at the same time. Recommend replacing when leaking, damaged or every 50-80k.

California Smog Check Program requires vehicles more than 6 years old or that were manufactured on 1976 and newer to participate in the biennial (every two years) Smog Check program. Diesel vehicles 1998 model or newer are required to participate. The program is a joint effort between the California Air Resource Board, the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, and the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
A Smog Check is not required for electric or hybrid.
It is the seller’s responsibility to get the smog certificate prior to the sale of the vehicle.
Smog check is required for registering an out of state vehicle into California. REPAIR all vehicles

SMOG DIESEL & LARGE TRUCKS

Diesel vehicles 1998 model or newer are required to participate in the SMOG inspection.

STARTER MOTOR

A Starter Motor is an electric motor for rotating an internal-combustion engine so as to initiate the engine’s operation under its own power.

STEERING

Power steering pump makes it easy to turn – you may hear a whine when low on p/s fluid or when the pump is failing, and steering will become more difficult. Directing your tires you will find hardware attached to the steering system, if these become damaged or out of adjustment your car may pull to one side or be difficult to steer.

TIRES

Minimum tread depth is 3/32 of an inch. Get a custom quote on your specific tires. Many kinds are available, and we’ll help you choose the best value for your money. Tire installation and wheel alignment provided to promote even tread wear.

TIRE ROTATION

$15 Rotate tires as needed. Recommend placing better tires in front. Directional tread tires cannot change sides. Due to size difference and sensors on some models, tire rotation is not available. If tires are wearing unevenly, wheel alignment is recommended.

TIMING BELT

Failure to replace the timing belt before the interval recommended by your manufacture can result in a broken belt causing severe engine damage. Recommend changing between 60-90k on most vehicles. Also recommend replacing water pump, belt idlers & tensioner along with timing belt.

TRANSFER CASE SERVICE

Drain fluid, check for metal shavings, refill with recommend fluid

TRANSMISSION SERVICE

Transmission fluid drain and fill.
Optional filter and gasket change.

TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT

Complete transmission removal and replacement of rebuilt or low mileage used transmission.

TUNE-UP

Basic tune up with oil change, spark plugs and air filter. Service inspection to recommend as-needed items.
Major tune up, includes basic plus spark plug wires, fuel filter and cabin air filter.

VALVE COVER GASKET

Recommend replacement when the gaskets start to leak oil, before damaging belts, hoses, spark plugs & wires.

WATER PUMP

Circulates coolant through the engine cooling system. Failure or coolant loss can result in engine overheating. Coolant leaks may damage other components. Water pump may fail if thermostat, radiator or head gaskets fail. Recommend thermostat replacement with repair.

WINDOW REGULATOR/MOTOR

The regulator lifts and lowers the window, while the motor powers this operation. We recommend to regularly open and close all windows to prevent sticking and strain on the regulator/motor.
