Next Month (October) is Fall Care Care Month!

As we are entering the new season of Fall, here is an excellent friendly reminder that next month (October) is Fall Car Care Month.

Now is the ideal time to assess the condition of your vehicle and bring it into our shop for maintenance. Let’s be honest: your car has been through a long summer with constant exposure to the hot weather and all the road trips here and there. October is the perfect month to take your car in for all its maintenance and fixes before the brisk cold of winter rolls around.

October is more than an ideal time to have your car inspected and prepared at Prestige Auto Works before the winter weather and holidays arrive. Here are ten essential car components/items that you should review during Fall Car Care Month.

  1. Fluids. Your vehicle lives off six essential fluids: engine oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, and antifreeze/coolant. Make sure these are all topped off enough to get you through the winter.

  2. Hoses and Belts. These shouldn’t be cracked, brittle, frayed, or loose. If they look overworn, then you can have them replaced at Prestige Auto Works.

  3. Battery. Your battery has endured a lot through the hot summer months. It would be best if you had your battery tested and checked for any signs of corrosion.

  4. Brakes. Feel free to ask one of our techs to inspect your braking system. You’ll need these to stop the car promptly in case of an emergency.

  5. Exhaust System. Your exhaust system should be free of leaks and damage.

  6. Engine. Your engine’s performance should be one of your top priorities to check to provide you with the best balance of power and fuel economy.

  7. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System. There’s nothing more frustrating than no AC in the summer and no heating in the winter. Please make sure your heating works to get you through the winter.

  8. Steering and Suspension System. It would help if you had both these systems inspected, including shock absorbers, struts, ball joints, and other parts, at least once a year.

  9. Tires. You should already be regularly checking your tire pressure to make sure it’s up to your manufacturer’s requirements. Additionally, please make a note of the tire tread. If you have any signs of uneven wear, you may require a wheel alignment.

  10. Windshield Wipers and Lighting. It takes less than a minute to check these items. In addition to your wiper fluid, your wipers need to be in good condition with no cracks or rips to ensure it does its job against rain and snow. While you’re inspecting the blades, give your car a quick 360 look-around to guarantee each of your lights is functional.

By having your car inspected now, you will reduce the risk of a problem down the line, especially when the road is covered with snow and ice. Please give Prestige Auto Works a call or visit today!
